Classroom Learning With 4/5B

In this terms Inquiry unit, Grade 4/5/6 have been investigating what a democracy involves. As such the students have been having a great deal of fun being involved in organising and running an election. The students have organised themselves into parties or Independents. They each have written a persuasive speech and learnt and used a new and exciting programme called Canva – to create their own political posters. Next Monday, each student will give their speech and then, just like a real election, the students will have a ballot paper (and use the ballot boxes left over from Saturdays election) and then see how the preferential system works – to vote in their classes Prime Minister. Just like the real election, we are even hoping to have a sausage sizzle at the end of the day’s voting.

There were many fantastic speeches and posters, but we could only include a few…..these are a few from Grade 4/5B. I think we definitely have a few potential politicians in the midst.
