Mr Lynch's son, Henry, leading the 1st Rugby team out on Saturday
Dear Parents and Players,
We saw an outstanding set of results on the weekend but I would like to particularly acknowledge the 3rd XI, 14C and 13D sides who all play ‘up a division’ which at times can be very challenging.
This weekend we see both Home and Away fixtures and with the current weather, and the fact that some grounds are operated by councils, I ask that you check the College twitter account @SPXSeniorSport where all wet weather updates will be posted. Assume that all games are on unless told otherwise.
This weekend’s grounds can be found at the following locations:
Good luck to all teams.

FOOTBALL CLUB NEWS
Mid- Season Review: At the half-way point of the ISA Senior competition we have many teams well placed at or near the top of their points tables. Our 1st XI remains undefeated at this point. We wish all the teams well in the last game of the term this Saturday.
BBQ Helpers last Saturday 9th June at Oxford Falls: The Football Committee would like to send a big thank you to all those parents who helped out in the BBQ kiosk last Saturday. The hot coffee and great sandwiches are really appreciated by the local and visiting parents on those cold mornings.
College Mid-Year Holiday Football (Soccer) Skills Camp: We understand that there is a clash with the Year 6 tour commencing on 20th July. Unfortunately we can’t alter the camp dates at this time but we are offering a two day option for $90 to attend on 18th-19th July for those touring who would still like to attend the camp.
The three day camp will run 9:30am-1:30pm 18-20th July. The camp is tailored for all age groups Years 5-10. We particularly encourage some of the older boys to come along as the ISA finals will be upon us early in Term 3.
The cost includes bus transfer to/from College to Oxford Falls if required (9am pick-up- 2pm drop-off).
The camp is run with professional coaches under the leadership of our Technical Coaching Director, Chris Semaan. A first aid officer is present each day.
Bookings can be made here: www.trybooking.com/361961 or on the school App in the Senior Sport/Football section.

To increase support, all students who stay to support the 1st XV, kicking off at 3:15 on Chaplin No. 1, and sit in the student area will get a free sausage sizzle and drink. See all game times below:

Learning to win
Tight games require that little bit extra to win them. Often coaches rave at half time thinking that motivating the players is the key. There’s no doubt that trying harder is important, but identifying the changes to first half performance are more effective.
Our 16 As and Cs, 13Bs and 13As (who had a draw) all performed heroically. The 16As drew 5-5 at half time, and having been subject to intense pressure for most of the first half, focused on reversing the possession stats at half time. A greater share of possession proved the key to victory resulting in a 10-5 win to Pius following a scintillating late try by Killarney.
Those teams that got off the bus and straight onto the field did particularly well, the 13As warming the hearts of everyone with a nail-biting 17 all draw. Our 16Cs and 13Bs are quietly getting on with winning. Have a look at them this weekend against Stannies - they’re good to watch!
To all our teams, well done. Playing hard after a long journey requires spirit and character ... and we have plenty!
Mike Penistone - Rugby Development Officer
Our tennis boys saw a mixed bag of results last weekend against the formidable Oakhill College. There was some impressive gameplay and even those teams which didn’t see final success on the scorecards can be proud of their efforts. Congratulations to our Division 1, 6, 7, 8 and 9 teams on their victories.
This week all teams are playing against St Pat’s. See the draw below.
