YEAR 12 EAL STUDENTS VIEW PERFORMANCE

Thank you to students for a terrific start to the school year in your English subjects. We have already had a range of activities beyond the standard curriculum.

In particular, our Year 12 EAL students viewed a performance of their Term 1 text, Hannie Rayson’s play Extinction. The performance was incredibly engaging, giving students a deeper understanding of the text, furthered by the valuable Q&A session with the cast after the performance.

READING BOOK REQUIRED FOR ALL ENGLISH LESSONS

A reminder that Years 7-9 students must bring a reading book to each English lesson. This is part of the minimum 20 minutes of sustained reading students should be completing each day, including during remote learning. The Library is open for borrowing throughout the term, with the team there happy to recommend a good book.

INCREASE YOUR READING AND WRITING SKILLS

As we settle into the year, students are encouraged to take advantage of the many opportunities provided to explore their passion for reading and writing. Students should also keep an eye on Compass for details about Writer Of The Month, Book Club and inter-school debating, as well as the return of the McKinnon Spelling Bee.

After a brief period of remote learning, we look forward to having everyone back in the classroom.
