GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Congratulations to Dana Boudiab (accompanied by Mr Baltazar Kurowski) who beautifully sang the National Anthem at the first General Assembly on Friday 5 February, 2021.

Congratulations and thank you to both Ben Jason-Easton and Andrew Seamer who performed “Happiness” at the same General Assembly. It was fantastic to see live music again, and your performance was outstanding!

GIGS ON THE GREEN

Gigs on the Green is back! What a fantastic way to have ended week two of the new school year with an amazing performance during lunchtime Friday 12 February. Ben Jason-Easton and Andrew Seamer brilliantly performed to a highly enthusiastic crowd who were excited to see live music again.

YEAR 12 THEATRE STUDIES

The Year 12 Theatre Studies students are now preparing their student directed play Masquerade by Kate Mulvany, which will be performed Friday 7 May and Saturday 8 May, as part of their studies for Unit 3. Tickets will be available soon and we are looking forward to seeing the work they are developing. Students take on all production roles including set, costume and lighting design.

CHICAGO

Auditions have now taken place, and call backs will be taking place next week. The production team is incredibly excited about the level of talent that the school has to offer, and making decisions is proving to be difficult. Rehearsals will start Thursday 25 February, after the cast is announced on Wednesday 24 February.

INSTRUMENT ALLOCATION

Years 8 - 12

Lessons have now begun, and students are expected to organise catching up on missed work from other classes.

Year 7

For all Year 7 students who indicated that they would like to learn an instrument at school, this process has begun - even with a slight hiccup this week.

Band

Students have completed their aural testing, trialing of certain instruments will take place during the ensemble lesson next week.

Any questions regarding band instrument allocation should be directed to Ms Tracy Videon (vid@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au) who is overseeing this process.

Strings

String students have been allocated instruments, teachers and in some cases, begun their instrumental lessons.  All students will be expected to have their instrument with them on Thursday this week (18 February).

Any questions regarding string instrument allocation should be directed to Ms Clare Bugeja (cb@mckinnonsc.vic.edu.au) who is overseeing this process.

ENSEMBLES

All ensembles have now started. Any student learning an instrument Year 9 and above needs to be part of an appropriate CORE ensemble. CORE ensemble rehearsals will take precedence over house music rehearsals, and other events.
