Research Study Title:

Learners of Japanese as a Heritage and Emerging Language in Australia, a preliminary study

豪州における日本語繋生語話者に関する予備調査

Researchers at UNSW, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, are conducting a project about learners of Japanese as a Heritage and Emerging Language (JHEL) for the future betterment of JHEL education. In this initial stage, we are investigating JHEL learners’ access to learning opportunities and resources.

皆様に調査にご協力をお願いします。ニューサウスウェールズ大学(UNSW）の研究者が国際交流基金（ジャパン・ファウンデーション）の支援を得て、日本語繋生語教育の将来的な改善のために調査を行なっています。ここでは、日本語を「親から継承したもの」というだけではなく、「私たちが人と繋がるために使い、新しい使い方を生み出していく言語でもある」と前向きに捉えて、繋生語（けいしょうご）という造語を使っています。本調査では、日本語繋生語話者がどのような教育の機会、または教育のリソースを得ることができるのかを調査しています。よろしくお願いいたします。

The research study is looking to recruit people who meet the following criteria.

以下に当てはまる方に調査にご協力いただけると幸いです。

(1) The administrators/organisers who have the experience of managing an institution/group for more than two terms or six months.

日本語繋生語の学校、あるいは日本語活動グループの運営に2ターム、あるいは6ヶ月以上関わってきた方

(2) The teachers/coaches who teach the heritage Japanese or lead language enhancement activities in an institution/group and have done so for more than two terms or six months.

日本語繋生語の学校、あるいは日本語を使った活動グループで、日本語授業や日本語活動を2ターム、あるいは6ヶ月以上担当してきた方

(3) The parents of the children who have participated in an JHL learning/enhancement

institution/group for more than two terms or six months.

日本語繋生語の学校、あるいは日本語を使った活動グループにお子さんを2ターム、あるいは6ヶ月以上参加させてきた親御さん

Participants meeting the following criteria will be excluded from the study:

• The persons with experiences longer than six months but in multiple institutions in which an experience in one institution in shorter than six months.

一つの学校、グループでの経験が6ヶ月以下の方は、調査対象から外れます。

Participants will be asked to complete the following research activities if they agree to participate:

調査協力に同意がいただけた場合、以下の形で参加していただきたいと思います。

• Online questionnaire of less than 30 minutes

オンラインで（インターネット上で）30 分以下のアンケートに答えていただきます。

A full description of all research activities, including any risks, harms or discomforts that you may experience while participating in this research is included in the Participant Information Statement and Consent Form attached to the questionnaire.
