Auf Wiedersehen Frau Nafisi

Sadly we will be farewelling Frau Nafisi who joined us in 2020 to teach German. We will miss her contribution to our Languages program, and her smiling face and positive attitude. We wish her good luck in the future.

Unfortunately with her departure we say farewell not just to her, but to German in our Languages program. It’s the end of an era, but hopefully we will be able to teach German again in the future.

The Japanese program looks forward to welcoming Japanese students and visits to Japan when we can, but in the meantime we will bring Japan to you!

Year 7 Japanese

Year 7 Japanese students expressed an interest in Japanese ghosts and spirits. So they undertook the challenge to research them, and present their findings in a number of ways. Some wrote up their findings, but these creative students drew them, or designed tissue boxes or t shirts portraying them.

Don’t be scared by what Chloe, Jasmine, Kole, Levi and Seb found out!

During remote learning Year 7 Japanese students were challenged to learn the kanji for big and small by forming them with common objects from around their homes.

Here is how Chloe, Deacon, Jayden, Kole, Seb, and Tom creatively met the challenge.

What an achievement!

Year 7 SEAL/Accelerated students started the year knowing no Japanese at all. By the end of the year they have been able to create and describe a character in Japanese.

Here are some examples of their amazing work.

Education Perfect Awards

Our Language teachers use an online program called Education Perfect to help students remember vocabulary, script, and grammar.

This year three of our students won awards in the Education Perfect Languages Championships:

Kailei Speedie answered 1,475 questions during the Championships. She earned 504 points placing her in the top 20% of 181,000 competitors.

Mela Benjamin answered 2,974 questions. She earned 679 points placing her in the top 20% also.

Tyson Partridge Spurr answered a whopping 4,241 questions. He earned 1,581 points, placing him in the top 10% of competitors.

Congratulations to all of you.  What an amazing achievement!
