Reading Challenge 2020

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge has started with engaging lunchtime sessions in the Library, where everyone is encouraged to share ideas and recommendations, and popcorn too.

An opportunity to nurture imagination!

Sessions run on a Wednesday lunchtime in the Library.

Australian Children's Laureate 2020

We have a new Australian Children’s Laureate!

The Laureate’s role is to promote the importance of reading, creativity and story in the lives of young Australians. The new Children’s Laureate is award-winning author, Ursula Dubosarsky.  She has won nine Premier’s Literary Awards and the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Award internationally, has been nominated for both the Astrid Lindgren and Hans Christian Andersen awards.

The 2020 Inky Awards

 The 2020 Inky Awards longlis t is coming in late March. Watch out for it!

The Inky Awards teen alumni select 10 Australian books and 10 international books. The longlist will reflect the quality and diversity of current young adult literature.

The longlist is read by a panel of teenaged judges, who whittle the list down to a shortlist of ten books (5 Australian, 5 international).

Are you interested in applying to be an Inky Awards judge?

It involves:

  • Reading all 20 longlisted books (which you get to keep) within three months (April to June)
  • Consulting with the other judges to select the shortlist of 10 books.
  • Use your voice to promote the Inky Awards (at school, at a festival …) and encourage your peers to vote in the Awards
