Senior Boys Volleyball

STUDENTS: Oliver Hall, Adam Ford, Samuel Rouse, Lachlan Simmons, Declan Norohna, Jack Bulstrode

On Monday February 17, the Senior Boys Volleyball team participated in a very competitive round robin against the other schools in the Northern Peninsula Division. Unfortunately, Patterson River Eels were unable to win any matches. We did however force the best team, Monterey, to a third set, making us the only school they dropped a set against. With six players and no substitutes we came close to winning every set against them. Another highlight from the day included Declan fending off a bullet speed spike which knocked all the energy out of him and our entire team who saw it. With no practice or training before we played, we were proud of our efforts for the day. It was a learn as you go scenario – developing our serving, spiking and digging skills as the day progressed. Overall, it was a great day.

Coast Guard 'Around the River Fun Run'

On Sunday 23 February, Patterson River Secondary College was strongly represented by 95 staff and students donning the ‘Eel’ at the recent Patterson River Coast Guard Fun Run. Competitors could choose to compete in either the 6km run or walk, or the 12km run. We had 4, 12km runners and 91, 6km runners including 7 staff.

We were blessed with perfect conditions for runners and walkers alike and our results didn’t disappoint.

For some, this was a first time event and for others, an opportunity to better their times from last year.

We really appreciate the parents/guardians, students and staff's willingness to give up their time on the weekend to partake in an event that supports our local community and highlights what amazing athletes we have within our College.

We are thrilled to be able to announce that we WON the Perpetual School Trophy for the second year in a row.

Our individual results were also incredible.

U17 Females 6km run – 3rd Place:  SHKYIAH UPSON; 00:29:21

U17 Females 12km run – 1st place:  HEIDI CHALMERS; 01:04:28

U17 Males 12km run – 1st place: SHANNON DELANEY; 00:54:54

In the 6km event, we had 11 runners finish in the top 20 for the Under 17 Female age group and again in the 6km event, we had 12 runners finish in the top 20 for the Under 17 Male age group.
