Welcome Year 7s

Within first month of 2020 school year, the college has seen Year 7 students participate in a very successful year 7 Welcome BBQ and Year 7 Camp.  It has been a great start to the year.  The Year 7 students, after a nervous start for some, have begun to really settle into secondary school.  They have started positively and with enthusiasm in all their classes. They have met new friends, started new subjects and enjoyed the opportunities that secondary school brings.  They have learnt to negotiate their way around the school and students are logged on to our network system and have mastered the locker lock!  The Year Seven Team is here to help guide your child.

Year 7 Barbeque

Students participated in Year 7 BBQ Welcome Evening, where over 400 parents and students came together to enjoy an evening meeting their son or daughter's mentor teacher and support staff.  A huge thank you to all that came and made the evening a positive experience for all.  A special thanks to the VCAL students for their positive contribution in child minding, food services and the coffee machine that was a hit on the evening.

Year 7 Camp

Over 250 Year 7 students went on a camp to CYC Phillip Island Resort during the week of 24 - 28 February. The intention of the camp was to promote persistence, connectedness and inclusiveness. Students were challenged on a range of activities such as giant swing, crate climb, trampoline, archery, flying fox and raft making.

They supported and worked with one another, creating new friendships and forming bonds along the way. On the first night of the camp, we had an outdoor cinema, where the students were able to relax under the stars and enjoy a movie, the second night was disco night where the student dressed up and danced the night away.  Thank you to all students for your participation and positive attitude, the PRSC staff for their hard work and CYC Phillip Island Resort for a wonderful camp. Another big thank you to the Year 7 team for organizing the camp and to the staff who attended.

Camp Report

Monday morning, 24 February 2020, over 100 eager Year 7 students arrived packed and ready for camp. The sun was shining, and after a quick stop in San Remo for some lunch, we were welcomed to The Island CYC for a fun-filled, action packed 3 day camp.

Our surroundings were first class with brand new cabins, a swimming pool to relax in and an array of activities to choose from. Students zoomed around on mountain bikes, delighted in the dizzying heights of the Giant Swing and made an abundance of chocolate truffles. The weather was kind to us for our beach activities, with 7E taking out the annual tug of war competition.

We were well fed with yummy dinners and lunches to give us enough energy for a night walk and the disco. Some of us even tried our hand at Karaoke!

We arrived home tired but happy having made new connections and strengthened existing ones.
