Kinder-Grade 1 Visit to TSO

Last week the students had a special morning attending a Kindy Classic performance at Federation Hall.  We took our buses into town and disembarked right at the Hall.  The students then walked to the Studio for the concert.  This is the room where the TSO practice, so it is a more intimate space where the children saw the instruments up close.  It was a beautifully organised concert with well known classical works like the William Tell Overture by Rossini and the Star Wars theme by John Williams as well as singing along to well known young people songs such as Old MacDonald had a Band and the Wheels on the Bus.  They arranged the popular “Where is the Green Sheep?” book to be “Where is the Big Sound?” and told it with all the amazing sounds that can be played by the instruments.  The students loved it!

The instruments made a huge impression on the young people.  When we were drawing after the concert to debrief from the event, the Double Bass, Harp and noisy Brass were a common theme.  I hope you enjoy their pictures, it was very difficult to choose just a couple for this newsletter.  It was a joy to take them to a world class performing orchestra and see the delight on their faces.  Thank you for your support of our endeavours.
