Kings Park Campus Principal Message

Welcome back for Term 3, 2019.

Students and staff have returned ready for a very busy term at the Kings Park Campus. Here are a few of the events that our students have been involved in this July and August;

All students were given the opportunity to complete a Well Being Survey in preparation for Curriculum Day on September 6th. Staff will reconnect with Andrew Fuller who will be returning to continue our work on developing student resilience.

Year 8 Snow Day

On Friday July 26th, Year 8 students were treated to a very cold but enjoyable Snow Day. Many thanks to Ms Farrelly, Mr Taseski and Ms Tsaloukis and the Year 7/8 team for all of their work in organising and encouraging students to attend.

Pathways Expo

The annual Pathways Expo for Year 10 students was very well attended and continues the timeline of Year 10 students receiving information to assist them to choose Pathways for the next 2 years. This evening is a great example of cross College collaboration between Pathways and Year 9/10 student management teams.

Grease

Grease is the word- we had fantastic attendance from our school community to support the very talented students from our College over three evening performances last week. Congratulations to Ms Gunn and the Performing Arts team for all of their hard work over an extended period of time to put on a great show.

Brainstorm- Cyberbulling

Last Monday we had ‘Brainstorm’ perform an engaging presentation that focussed on cyberbullying. The presentation provided Year 7 students with strategies to combat cyberbullying and support their friends.

Memorial Garden

When next you visit the Kings Park campus you will see a Commemorative Garden celebrating the contributions of three members of the Copperfield Family who have passed away over the last two years. A big thank you to Mr  Cairney (College Gardener) and Mr  Campbell (KP Maintenance) for all of their work in landscaping and preparing the garden. Ms  Palladino also worked very hard to source the beautiful memorial rocks for Diana Karupovic, Jeremie Santos and Ms Pauline Cook, and her efforts are also very much appreciated.

Fuji Visit

This year, Kings Park campus is proud to host the farewell ceremony with our Fuji visitors. The College’s sister school partnership with Fuji Junior High School is a long standing one and we look forward to the friendships that will be formed amongst the students.

ABCN Partnership

The College also has an almost 10 year partnership with ABCN (Australian Business and Community Network) and last Thursday, 18 Year 10 students attended an ABCN session on Future Thinkers. This involved working on a design process for problem solving at Korn Ferry. Thanks to Ms Alessio for accompanying the students.

Robotics and Science Fair

The Kings Park campus Robotics Club continues to grow in popularity and this is in no small part to the ongoing commitment and support of the students by Mr Hofman. Mr Hofman and Ms Miller have also been preparing the KP students for the upcoming Science Fair.

Author Visits and High Resolves

In the coming weeks we will also see Year 7 & 8 students involved in author visits and Year 8 students participating in the next stage of the High Resolves program.

Student Led Presentations

Lastly, but definitely by no means least, all students are busily preparing for the upcoming Student Led Presentations on Thursday Sept 5th. The SLPs are an integral part of student life at junior campuses and always a great day for students to showcase their learning and celebrate their achievements.
