Primary Co-Curricular

Primary Co-curricular Report

We are now well and truly into the Summer season.  Both our cricket, tennis teams and water polo are in action.

Mr Vo’s B1 Tennis team had a BYE but Ms Schenk’s B2 team traveled to Concordia.  Concordia proved to be too tough and won 8 sets to 1.  It was great to see all players arrive at this game and represent the school so well.

Ms Schenk reported that many matches were quite close, but Concordia came out on top. The Year 4/5 team, under the guidance of Mrs West, played PAC at Blair Athol.  Many of the boys are still learning their craft, often against experienced opposition.  I look forward to hearing more reports of good sportsmanship and behavior from this team.

Both cricket teams went down last weekend.  Nazareth were too strong for the Primary B1 boys, winning by about 50 runs.  Declan, Sam and Ethan, all senior players, were amongst the runs, but Nazareth were just too strong.  The Year 3/4/5 team weren’t attacking enough with the bat and only made 27 runs using the willow.  PAC contributed the rest of the runs. The boys continue to improve but need to score more runs in order to be competitive.

LONG WEEKEND

There are no fixtures programmed this weekend due to the long weekend.  The exception to this is the Kanga Cricket team which plays in a different competition.  Kanga will continue as normal on Friday 9th March.

SAPSASA SWIMMING

A small group of 6 swimmers attended selection trials for the North Adelaide SAPSASA Swim team. Congratulations go to Ben Taylor, Jake Martin and Hugh Caton who achieved selection in the North Adelaide District team. This team competes on SAPSASA State Day at Marion later this term.

PRIMARY SWIMMING CARNIVAL

The Primary Swimming Carnival for Years 3 – 6 students took place on Friday 9 March. Watch out for next newsletter’s write up of this event.

SEQTA

Parents are reminded that fixtures, cancellations and maps can be found in the Co-Curricular section of the SEQTA parent portal.  Some families have been missing important information: they have not been checking SEQTA as a reference point.  I encourage you to look at the Co-Curricular Tab for important news or the notices section for cancellations.

HEAT CANCELLATIONS

35 degrees is the enforced cut off point for all co-curricular trainings and games mid-week, with the exception of water polo.

Many boys have been coming to school with their equipment, or waiting around after school to be picked up.  Please check the Advertiser Newspaper or Adelaide Now online, to check the forecast temperature.
