Wellbeing at Christmas time
Christmas can be a very chaotic time for families with the added pressures on our time and money. Over this time try to focus on the important things and remember our four important character pillars - Gratitude, Kindness, Curiosity and Hope.
Gratitude
Christmas is all about spending quality time with families and friends however our modern world makes it very hard to be truly present, so Christmas is a great time to practice this skill. Disconnect from your screens to re-connect with the people that really matter in your life and take time to show gratitude for all your blessings, big or small.
Kindness
Doing something for a friend, helping a stranger, volunteering, making a present, completing random acts of kindness, or simply taking the time to genuinely thank someone will strengthen relationships and create experiences that material gifts can’t even get close to. Happiness is a choice. It is the best gift you can give others because it’s contagious!
Curiosity
Be curious about the world around you this Christmas. The holidays are a great time to spend with family and friends but it can also be a very busy time. Try to spend more time being rather than doing this holiday. Take time to be truly present when you are with other people and seek to learn something new about them. Discover how different family traditions came to be and be curious and invested in the people you care about.
Hope
As things wind up and you get set to dive into a new year, take some time to consider the future you want to create in 2022. Identify a couple of key goals. Develop some pathways that will lead you in the general direction of those goals. Talk with your loved ones about how you can achieve them. This will inspire you to launch into the New Year with vision, energy, and hope.
Enjoy your holidays and have a safe and joyful Christmas!
