What’s Happening in RE Classrooms?

Term 4 Week 6

This fortnight Year 8 students have been learning about the attributes of Jesus, as outlined in the Gospels, particularly the Parables of Lost Sheep and the Lost Coin.

Learning Intention:

  • To understand how Jesus can help make God real for us.

Success Criteria:

  • I can read and summarise a number of parables
  • I can recognise and identify important attributes of Christ
  • I have designed a shirt that represents an attribute of Christ and justified it

Jesus has been described as ‘the Icon of God’ because it is through his life, death and resurrection that we can ‘see’ and ‘hear’ God. This includes what God says about the way to live our lives, to participate in and promote the reign of God.

Through many stories in the Bible we see the attributes of God, including compassion, respect, service, stewardship, hospitality.

Students then demonstrated this understanding by creating T-Shirts advertising the attributes of Jesus. On their T Shirts are symbols and examples of how people live out these attributes in their daily lives.
