WA Student Assistance Payment

The second round of the WA Student Assistance Payment will soon be available for every eligible student in Western Australia. It will provide cost-of-living relief for families to help with children's schooling. 

 

All WA school students from Kindergarten to Year 12 are eligible if they have an active enrolment at a public school, non-government school or are registered for home education in Pre-primary to Year 12.

 

Parents and carers can claim $250 for each secondary student and $150 for primary and kindergarten students.

Secondary Assistance Scheme

The Western Australian Government, through the Department of Education, provides financial support to eligible parents/guardians through the Secondary Assistance Scheme (SAS). The aim of the scheme is to assist low-income families with secondary schooling costs.

 

Eligible parents/guardians with students enrolled in Years 7 to 12 studying a full-time secondary course at a Western Australian non-government school will be able to apply for the SAS in 2025.

 

Yers 7-12 parents may be eligible for up to $535 towards school expenses. The SAS consists of two allowances:

  • $235 Education Program Allowance (payment made to the school)
  • $300 Clothing Allowance (payment made to the parent/guardian).

If you hold a:

  • Centrelink Health Care Card
  • Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card
  • Veteran's Affairs Pensioner Concession Card
