Secondary Assistance Scheme Increase 2024-2025

On 1 July, the State Government announced that the SAS clothing allowance will increase from $115 to $300 for 2024 and 2025. This will provide cost-of-living relief for eligible low-income families.

Anyone who had previously applied and received the $115 payment will get an automatic top-up; they are not required to fill in another form.  If they haven’t applied, they will not be allowed to apply as the deadline ended 28 March 2024.

The College is excited to be able to be able to utilise the below initiative for the benefit and convenience of the College community. We are working closely with the King’s Chapel to ensure strong, and effective management systems and process are in place that support and promote safe and healthy opportunities for the College and Church communities.

Similar initiatives have been implemented in other schools and have proven to be much loved and assist to foster strong relationships in the College community.

Community Announcement

The King’s Chapel is excited to announce that we will be opening Bulrush Café for our College and Church community in the upcoming months.  Some of you may remember in our earlier years we had a Gloria Jeans café on site, which was a hub of community for parents to rest and wait for their children. It has always been our plan to build up this space for our community again as it was a fantastic space for parents to meet other parents for coffee and build relationships.

The Bulrush Café project is being managed by the owner of popular cafes, May St Larder and Halo Café, so we can confidently say that the coffee and food are amazing.

We are excited about the possibilities for partnering with the College to offer Barista and Hospitality training options. This is something that the Church Board and College Board are excited to explore.

Bulrush Café is also available to help with the supply of food for the Canteen, which will provide students with a nutritious and tasty option to purchase lunch at school.

We will keep parents updated on our expected opening date as soon as we have that information.

Blessings,

The King's Chapel Team
