2021 OLA Parents and Friends Committee Annual Report

What a year! We started off 2021 with huge plans and great expectations. We have a new P&F Committee with a renewed focus on an engaging year of fundraising and social events for both parents and children. The year commenced with an extremely successful welcome morning tea organised by Olivia Moran and Alysha Crawford. After a couple of false starts, a snap lockdown and an electrical storm we were able to hold a wonderful Welcome Picnic. We had a fantastic turn out and families had a great time with the live music and social atmosphere.

In 2021, the P&F Committee had 2 co-chairs leading the executive and 2 parent representatives for each year level. One of the roles of the year level representatives was to hold a variety of inclusive social events throughout the year. In total there were 14 events planned and a whole school trivia night booked into diaries. Unfortunately, the majority of these ended up being cancelled due to restrictions or lockdowns. A huge thank you to the year level representatives for their ongoing perseverance throughout the year.

The Mother’s Day Breakfast and Mother’s Day stall were a huge success, both had very high attendance, thank you Andy Wright, Kate McGuire and respective teams.

Whilst we focus on building community, a large portion of the role of the P&F is to raise funds for the school. Although most of our scheduled events were unable to be run, we did hold a very successful Easter Raffle earlier in the year. 

A special thank you to Dian Kett, Elena Ricciuti, Bianca Marasco and Rachel Martin for running the Second Hand Uniform Shop and Melanie Power, Lauren Koukoumanos and Stacey Stratford  who have volunteered on the stall through the year, which has not only been a huge support to so many families over the past 12 months but it has also been the number one revenue source for the P&F this year.  Thank you to Katie Lang for running the Scholastic Book Club. This year alone we earned $880 reward dollars which are redeemed by the school for new Library resources.

We are proud to be able to announce that we raised over $9000 in 2021. The money has been put towards the following:

$4,800 towards the Grade 6 Bike Education Program and equipment 

$3300 update of Take Home Readers - Little Learners Love Literacy Books & Sunshine Books

$520 towards P-6 Cyber Safety Inform and Empower Parent Workshop and babysitting

$380 OLA Teardrop Sporting Banners  

A big thank you to the P&F Executive; Susan Wixted, Rosie An, Emil Mathias and to all the year level representatives for making the events that could go ahead, run as smoothly and inclusively as possible. Whilst the P&F facilitate the events and fundraising it would be unable to happen without the continued support and contribution from all the families in the OLA community. We encourage all families to get involved in 2022.

Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who gave up their time throughout the year to attend meetings and drive engagement in our community.  We would like to wish the 2022 OLA P&F Committee the best of luck for a successful year.
