Merry Christmas!

I am really looking forward to being back in Albany for a brief period over the Christmas/New Year holiday break. My garden will have my attention, and I plan to visit our incredible coastline and beaches for the renewal and revitalisation that being in nature brings.

My festive season office opening hours are as follows:

  • 21 December 2021: Final day open in 2021
  • 22 December - 3 January 2022: Office closed
  • 4 January: Office re-opens

I hope you and your loved ones take time out to unwind and relax together. May peace and joy be yours as you experience the comfort of friendship over the Christmas season, and may your home be filled with renewed hope and good health. Merry Christmas!

Regenerative Agriculture Event

The recent regenerative agriculture event held at Raintree Farm in Denmark is a reminder of the many committed people working in agriculture excited about the possibilities that a low carbon economy offers. We know that integrated solutions are required to support soil biology and ecosystem biodiversity and this event was a positive contribution to the ongoing conversation.

Thank you to Steve Birkbeck for hosting this successful event, which saw over 200 guests gather to discuss sustainability and the foundations of profitable agriculture and the environment.

Hydrogen Update

The north of our State is attracting global attention for its renewable hydrogen potential, with energy companies from across the world setting their sights on WA.

We're committed to unleashing that potential and fast-tracking local renewable hydrogen production and exports.

This week, we applied to the Commonwealth Government for funding for two renewable hydrogen hubs in WA, and we're putting $117.5 million of State Government funding on the table to secure these hubs.

We look forward to working with the Federal Government to embrace this job-creating opportunity for Western Australia, which will make a significant contribution to global efforts towards net zero emissions.

Water Tank Funding

Congratulations to the Bornholm/Kronkup Bush Fire Brigade in Albany, which will share in $2 million funding for additional water tanks, improving their capacity to respond to regional bushfires.

Our community knows just how important local Bush Fire Brigades are, particularly as Summer is upon us. I’m proud the McGowan Labor Government is making sure we’re equipped to protect our communities from the threat of bush fire.
