Extension 2 HSC English

Our sole Extension 2 English student, Oscar King, recently completed and submitted his major work. Below is Oscar’s description of his work:

‘Pantomimes and Landmines’ is a work of Postmodern short fiction composed to critique contemporary populist media that has facilitated the emergence of our post-truth world. The purpose of my work was to examine how language is manipulated by the media to construct the present, and by authors to construct the past. Specifically, I created a journalist character writing in the months preceding the Iraq War to critique the mendacity of ‘post-truth’ media outlets.

His story is the culmination of much reading, research, planning, drafting and editing. Oscar’s commitment to the project was unwavering and he should be proud of his final submission.

HSC English

We wish all of our 2021 HSC English students the best of luck with their final examinations. Many of our students have been frequently seen liaising with their teachers in the Resource Centre and are well prepared to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of English Standard, Advanced and Extension 1.

Our HSC 2022 cohort are now deep into the Common Module and we look forward to their first essays due in Week 7.

Years 7-10

Our Year 7-10 students will likely be receiving feedback about their Assessment Tasks in the next week. Students are reminded that what they do with this feedback is a vital part of the process. They are asked to identify at least one thing that they can do now to improve their learning in English.
