Term 2 has been very busy and productive for everyone. The students have been supported in their learning and emotional needs by our Wellbeing team of Counsellors, Youth Worker and Psychologist. Further support by Kingston Youth Services and Bayside Youth Services.

We have every lunchtime our Arts and Wellbeing activities held in the Art and Music areas by teachers lead by Mrs Tanya Martinek and Mrs Lisa Maxwell-Cripps who volunteer their lunchtimes to be available to the students. We have supplied toasties and fruit donated by Eat Up and local fruiter Donald Smith for students who required lunch.  The school is  very grateful to Eat Up and Donald for their support.

Term 3 will be just as busy and we kick off the term with a very exciting initiative in partnership with BGKLLEN involving a group of Year 9 girls who will help design and produce six short films.

Summary of the project:

The BGKLLEN has engaged YLab (www.ylab.global - a youth consulting social enterprise) to shoot six short films (4-6 minutes) to profile women in non-traditional areas (i.e App development, coding, concreting, barista, AFL) to help break down the gender imbalance in career decision making. These videos will be partnered with classroom lessons to reinforce the importance of 21st century or enterprise skills in the workplace including digital literacy, communication, collaboration, creativity, project management etc. These will be hosted online and available to every school in Victoria, Australia and overseas.

The students will not only be developing a tool that will be seen by thousands of other students, they will be helping portray women in non-traditional work areas and increase the amount of young women who aspire to those roles. As well as that, this program will go some way to helping some local issues:
