from the Principal

Dear Parents/Carers/Students/Staff

Welcome back to term 3 – always an extremely busy term.

SHIRLEY – THE CROSSING LADY

I am sure a lot of our students, parents and staff know Shirley, affectionately known as the crossing lady.  Shirley does a marvellous job under sometimes extreme conditions.  I would like to congratulate Shirley who has recently completed 30 years as a Council employee and more particularly as our crossing lady.

AVENUES (WINDSOR GARDENS) EXCHANGE

The Avenues Exchange is over for another year. The team has returned home and the experience for everyone will be special for a long time.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved in the preparation, the training, the extra hours, and the participation in the Exchange, including the Avenues B-12 community.  Special thanks go to Bree Natoli for the many hours spent organising the exchange with the help of several other staff.

Well done to the Avenues team and well done to our team who performed with great enthusiasm and skill and displayed wonderful sportsmanship.

On Wednesday 31st July, Parent, Student and Teacher Interviews will be held for all students completing a VCE or VCAL subject. I hope that you find these interviews useful and an opportunity to discuss with your child’s teachers how their learning is progressing and how we can collaboratively work to support students and their families across the remainder of the year. If the time allocated on these occasions has not been adequate please do not hesitate to make contact for further discussion or a longer appointment.  Interviews need to be booked through Compass using your Parent login.  The link to the booking option is located on the right hand side of the screen, highlighted in green Parent Student Teacher Conferences.

DONATIONS DRIVE FOR MATT'S PLACE

Over the past few weeks Year 12 VCAL students have been running a donations drive for Matt's Place, a community organisation in Cheltenham that help the homeless every week. This is a reminder that we need YOUR help.   Items requested include non-perishable foods, first aid and hygiene essentials such as cans of soup, beans, tuna, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, bandaids etc.

These items can be dropped off at the main office by the 30th of July.

Thanks for your help!

PARENT SURVEY

Each year the school conducts an opinion survey amongst a sample of the school community. Earlier this week the school emailed approximately 200 parents who have been randomly selected and invited to participate. Results will be used to inform and direct our future school planning and improvement.

I ask you to please take the time to complete the survey as your opinions are important to us and will contribute to the future management and organisation of our school.

  • The survey will be conducted online and should take 10-15 minutes to complete.
    • The survey can be completed on any internet enabled device (iPad, Desktop or Laptop, Smartphone) and is compatible with most browsers.
  • The survey will be open from Monday 22 July to Sunday 11 August 2019.
  • The survey is available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Greek, Turkish, Somali and Punjabi.

Please be assured that your responses are completely confidential. The survey is conducted anonymously and it is important to us that you complete the survey as honestly as possible. Your comments in the final, open-ended question will be provided back to the school.

Please follow the instructions below to complete the survey. NOTE: Only one parent from your family is invited to complete the survey.  Please follow the instructions provided in the email to complete the survey.  Your help is much appreciated.
