Based in Dandenong and Werribee, DeakinStart is a free four-week program that prepares you for life at university.

 

What is DeakinStart?

DeakinStart is a free four-week tertiary preparation program delivered at Deakin’s Learning Centres in Dandenong and Werribee. 

 

DeakinStart offers a supported and inclusive learning environment to help prepare you for life at university and ease your transition into university study. 

 

The program is designed to assist you whether you are a potential applicant or have already received a university offer.

 

What will I learn?

Topics covered include learning at university, critical thinking, academic writing and researching, referencing, literacy and numeracy skills, introduction to the library, career guidance and an overview of student services. Students will also be introduced to studying online and the Deakin student portal.

 

When does DeakinStart begin?

The four-week program will be conducted from Monday 16 January 2017 to Wednesday 8 February 2017 at the Dandenong Learning Centre and Werribee Learning Centre.

The program will be held three days per week (Monday/ Tuesday/Wednesday) and includes two sessions per day 9.00am–12.00pm and 1.00–4.00pm.

 

Cost

DeakinStart is a free program, there are no fees.
