Secondary News

As we come towards the end of the term classes are working steadily through the Term 1 units of work.  The introduction of laptops across the Secondary school has brought about many worthwhile changes in the way that students learn and teachers instruct.  There are, however, two issues that a number of students need to improve on.  Firstly, at times, students will be asked to watch a clip from “youtube” or listen to music or speech, it is important that students have a set of earphones to make sure they can engage in these activities.  Secondly, a number of students are arriving at school with a Chromebook that has no charge, again this means that these students are not able to fully engage in their lessons.  The support of parents in resolving these issues is greatly appreciated.

Last Friday Secondary students had the opportunity to attend a retreat session with the U-Turn Team which serves in schools and parishes on behalf of the Bread of Life Fellowship, to bring the gospel to young people in a dynamic and personal way.  This dynamic group of young people also joined our students at break times and during sport, quickly making connections with the students.  The team remained in the parish until Sunday, running a number of sessions that some of our students also found rewarding.

Jordan Jett, in Year 8, will be representing Moree Motocross club at Roma Motocross track this weekend. Jordan will be competing in the National Motocross where he will be racing the senior  85cc big wheel and the junior lites 125cc. Congratulations to Jordan and all the best for this weekend.

Last night the SRC Secondary disco was held, a wonderful occasion, well attended and enjoyed by all!  Many thanks to the staff who were able to attend providing supervision to allow this opportunity for our students.
