MGC launches its
STEAM program
On Wednesday 11th May, room 306 became Mars Galactic Colony 306 for the launch of our Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) program. Class 8C spent the day inside the room engaging with the 13 technology stations. The students spent Period 1 learning their station, Periods 2 and 3 solving a challenge and Period 4 presenting their solutions and detailing what worked, what didn’t and how improvements could be made next time.
Each station uses a different technology which includes LittleBits Electronics, Lego Mindstorms, Dash and Dot and Ollie, Spheros, our NAO robot and our 3D printers. MGC's Parent Association generously provided support for this technology.
We also have students involved in the PrintACar challenge, where student’s 3D print their car designs and race them against other schools. Students are also involved in the Robot dance competition at Swinburne University where students program our NAO robot with a dance routine and compete with other schools.
