Junior School Report

Junior School Report

After a significant period of remote learning during Term 3, we finally received the positive news that Junior School students could – progressively – return to on-site learning. As with the Year 11 and 12 senior students, our Year 7 students were welcomed back into the school environment, from the second week of Term 4. It was fabulous to see the vast majority of our students in attendance from the first Monday back, in full summer uniform, and demonstrating their enthusiasm for school in their return to on-site learning.

Our Year 8, 9 (and 10) students will also be welcomed back shortly, with current advice scheduled for a Monday 26 October return. In the meantime, students in these three year levels will continue to complete their subjects via remote learning, with the full support of the teachers via online Webex lessons and email communication.

There has also been a Wellbeing Day for Years 8, 9 and 10 students – on Wednesday October 14 – to help students organise themselves, and keep a balance between their studies and a positive wellbeing.

Back at Scoresby Secondary College, the Year 7 students were interviewed to ascertain their feelings about returning to on-site learning, what they have looked forward to about their return to school, as well as some things that they wouldn’t miss about remote learning!

  •  “…I was nervous about returning to study at school…”
  • “…I’m very excited to see my friends again!”
  • “…I was looking forward to making some more friendships.”
  • “…We can interact with teachers, and get help individually!”
  •  “…Staying in check with my learning is heaps easier at school.”
  • “…I was really happy to see actual human faces again! Not just WebEx ones!

See below some photos of our Year 7 students, all decked out in their COVID-19 safety masks:

A reminder that there is a Public Holiday coming up on Friday 23 October, meaning no students will be on-site this day, nor will any remote learning lessons be running on this day. This is another opportunity to take stock, get some fresh air, and communicate with any important people in your life.

The Junior School team will continue to provide support to our Junior School students, and students are encouraged to communicate with their teachers or wellbeing team if they feel that they need some extra support at any stage as we progress through Term 4.

We wish our whole Junior School community a safe Term 4.
