CAS Project Reflection – The Riverina Anglican College Runs for AT

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) forms a core element of the IB Diploma Programme.  Students are required to complete a CAS Project, this is a group initiative that addresses an issue of global significance and has a positive impact on either the school or wider community. Here is a student reflection from our final CAS project for 2020.

Last Friday, Year 10 became the final year group to enjoy their run for AT Colour Run, bringing to completion our campaign to support the BRASH-AT Foundation and Ataxia Telangiectasia. The excitement and enthusiasm of the students across Years 7-10 made the colour runs very successful, leaving everyone with smiling faces and uplifted spirits. Along with running the course, students had fun traversing the slip-n-slide, crawling through the pond and participating in other activities such as soccer, handball, and basketball.

The IB CAS Project group, consisting of Holly Wilson, Anna Falepau, Judd McLeod, William Meiklejohn and Lucy McKelvie-Hill, are immensely grateful for the cooperation and support from our staff and junior students and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate each student on completing the run with positivity and energy. At each of the four colour runs, we were thrilled to see and hear students having so much fun, all the while raising funds and awareness for this important cause. The Millar family, who inspired this initiative and partnered with us to implement this project, have expressed much gratitude for the school's fundraising efforts. We have been overjoyed to support the Millar family in this way, raising a total of $3025 for the foundation.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to our sponsors, Selby Watson & Co and Kentish Downs Poll Dorset Stud, for their generosity in purchasing the powder paint and assisting with advertising, as well as the entire College community for lending their support for this campaign by getting into the colour run events, wearing purple mufti for AT, purchasing AT socks and devouring a sausage sizzle lunch. Thank you for making this project such a beneficial venture.

With hope for a future free of AT.
