Chess

After a term of Tuesday lunches spent strategizing over chess boards, the 18 students from Year 7 to Year 11 were whittled down to eight finalists. The finals rounds of The Riverina Anglican College Interhouse Chess Competition have been played over the past few weeks.

The following students qualified for finals: Hudson Crofts, Brandon Collins, Mina Girgis, Teddy Leah, Nick Liu, Owen Ranby, Thane Whitwell and Carter Zhang.

This past Tuesday, Mina Girgis and Brandon Collins battled with their chess strategies in the Grand Final. The game waxed and waned as each player had times of dominance. As the clock ticked down to the end of lunch, Brandon was declared the winner on a points count.

Congratulations to our College Chess Champion for 2020 – Brandon Collins!
