WELCOME PICNIC

Our school picnic tea is planned for this Thursday 9 February from 5.30 to 7.30 pm on the school oval. All families in the school (Prep – 6) are invited to bring your own picnic tea (food and drink), and blanket or chair.

Classrooms will be open from 5.30 – 6.00pm so that parents can become acquainted with their child’s learning environment.

As this is a family function, it is essential that a parent or guardian accompany each child attending and are fully responsible for the supervision of their children. Older siblings are welcome if also in the care of parents.  Normal school rules apply (no dogs, bikes, scooters etc.). We wish this to be a pleasant family evening and I encourage all families to come along, meet new friends and old, chat with the staff, and have an enjoyable informal evening.

PARENT INFORMATION WORKSHOPS

We will be holding information workshops for parents on Wednesday 22 February and Thursday 23 February. These workshops will cover various curriculum areas and are aimed to give parents an insight into our school programs, and how parents can support their children at home. The areas to be covered will be Literacy, Numeracy, Assessment/Data, ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and Personal and Social Capabilities (wellbeing).  There will also be an information session on the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden (SAKG) program for Years 3 and 4 parents.

All class teachers and specialists will be involved in presenting the workshops. Parents are invited to complete the attached booking slip to indicate your attendance. More specific information about the workshops will be sent home next week.

CLASS REPRESENTATIVES

Each year, each class has a parent representative (Class Rep) to act as a conduit at times between the teacher and parents, to welcome new families to the class and to assist with fundraising.  Included with this newsletter is an attachment with more information.

If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the attachment and forward to the office.

One of the first roles of the Class Rep will be to take on the role of preparing the class contact lists (see below) under the guidance of office staff.

CLASS CONTACT LISTS

Included with this newsletter is a form for parents to complete if they would like to be included on class contact lists.

Parents often find these lists handy if they wish to arrange ‘play dates’ or birthday parties.

Class reps may also use these lists to contact parents in regard to fundraising assistance and classroom help. If you would like to be included on the contact list, please complete the form and send back to school ASAP so that the lists can be compiled.

SAFE PARKING

Parents are reminded to park safely and legally around the school.  Please note parking restriction times, and also note that the staff car park is restricted to staff only, and is neither a public car park nor an entry point for pedestrians.

Your cooperation in adhering to our safety rules is much appreciated.

Please also adhere to speed restrictions and correct use of the school crossings for the safety of our children.
