An Overview of our Learning

In the Year 1 classes, we have been focusing on developing our writing skills specifically in the area of editing!

In this activity, students were asked to use a picture prompt and write a creative story!

Miss Tilley and Mrs. McQueen are so proud of how the students engaged in the writing process.

This writing task has also given Miss Tilley and Mrs. McQueen an opportunity to see where our students are at, and what our teaching focus will be for the remainder of the year.

Take Home Readers!

Take home readers reflect what sound has been taught or is currently being taught within the classroom. Reading the InitiaLit readers will consolidate those concepts. Once your child has read them, please feel free to encourage your child to read other books of interest. Please remind your child that take home readers get changed on a Monday and need to be returned to school on Friday.

In the InitiaLit readers you will find at the beginning sounds to practice. And once you have read the story with your child, you can check for understanding by asking them the comprehension questions at the back.

If it is possible, please read with your child nightly.
