Religion and Parish News

GOOD MORNING, JESUS

Jesus, you are good and wise

I will praise you when I rise.

Jesus, hear this prayer I send

Bless my family and my friends.

Jesus, help my eyes to see

All the good you send to me.

Jesus, help my ears to hear

Calls for help from far and near.

Jesus, help my feet to go

In the way that You will show.

Jesus, help my hands to do

All things loving, kind, and true.

Jesus, guard me through this day

In all I do and all I say.

Amen.

Mission Week Wrap-Up

Mission Week concluded on Friday of Week 1 and finished with a bang! Students from across the school lined up in front of Mrs McCumstie, Mrs Herden, Mrs Shortis, Mr Frend and Mrs Honner, buzzing with the excitement and anticipation of being able to throw a wet sponge at their designated teacher. The teachers’ best efforts to cover up and remain relatively dry proved fruitless, as students pummeled them with soaked-sponges left, right and centre!

Mission Week awareness proved successful and with the help of the St Xavier’s staff, students and families, we were able to raise just under $800 to put towards Catholic Missions. Catholic Missions work to improve the life and dignity of the marginalised around the world. Cambodian children living with disabilities was the target group for this year’s fundraising.

I’d like to extend a huge thank you to all families who donated money during Mission Week.

Mission Week Wrap-Up

Sacrament of First Eucharist

At the end of Week 1, 31 students made their Sacrament of First Eucharist in the Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Chapel. The students in this Sacramental Program finalised their preparations for making this special Sacrament by participating in a reflective Retreat Day, beautifully prepared by the Year 3 teachers. After the First Eucharist Masses, Father John McHugh commented on just how wonderfully reverent the children were as they received the blessed body of Christ for the very first time. Congratulations children!

Sacrament of Confirmation

Candidates for the Sacrament of Confirmation are only two weeks away from their Confirmation Mass weekend. Candidates are reminded to return their white Information sheet, outlining their Confirmation Name and Sponsor’s name, as soon as possible if they haven’t already. Students in this program will be attending Reconciliation next week in readiness to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Parents are reminded that ALL Confirmation Masses are now in the Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Chapel, Gunnedah and to check the Confirmation Mass Schedule to ensure they know which Mass they are scheduled to attend.
