Principals Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

Currently we are gathering data in spelling, reading, writing and maths and comparing it to the testing we did in February. We are very excited to see some fantastic growth in every grade. This is particularly pleasing given the year we have had so far. It’s a sign of the commitment of staff and parents to engage children in their learning. It is also a reflection of the students' move towards taking more responsibility for their learning. Goal setting has helped most students really “own” their learning.

We had some great feedback from parents, staff and students on the student led conferences. I have summarised the feedback into a document that talks about WWW-What worked well and EBI-Even better if. You can view the information in the following link:

Student-led Conference Feedback Summary

We have also studied the information in the School Satisfaction Survey. This survey is sent to every school community in the Diocese and looks particularly at any themes that may appear in parent, staff and student comments or at any disparities among the stakeholders. This year 85 parents took advantage of the process, we also received results from Years 4 and 6 and the staff.

Thank you for playing an active role by commenting and giving us feedback. We appreciate it and we do use the information for planning.

Kind regards,

Jen

Farewell Mr Kokegei

Mr Kokegei has been on a period of extended leave and has made the decision to resign from teaching in the Armidale Diocese. Paul has been a teacher in the Diocese for over 30 years and most of this time has been spent at St Xavier’s. Paul’s faith was evident in the lessons he taught and the stories he told. His love of history and such subjects always led to interesting conversations with students. Paul coached children in a number of sports and had a particular fondness for rugby league. Paul developed many long lasting friendships with many students over the years and he was always able to recount funny stories from the past.

The staff and students wish Paul the very best for the future and we thank him for his contribution to St Xavier’s. Go well and go safely Mr Kokegei.
