Naidoc Week - Secondary Campus

To celebrate NAIDOC Week, the Year 8 students at The Lakes are learning about Indigenous Seasonal Calendars as part of their Science Unit – The Dynamic Earth and Our Place in Space.

Students are investigating and comparing the seasonal calendars of the Kulin Nation and the local Wurundjeri People. This project involves students developing an understanding of the importance of the environment and country to First Nations People, and an awareness of how climate patterns have been both observed, and predicted, by them over the past 40,000- 60,000 years.

The students will share their knowledge by creating their own versions of these seasonal calendars. We will post photos of these when they are completed.
