Principal

Our school is located on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

What makes you happy?

I can only assume everyone is as happy as I am about having the opportunity to visit family and friends again.

Wishing you all a wonderful time catching up with those in your life who you love over the next few weeks.

The year 2020 has had direct and indirect impacts on all of us in so many ways. For some it has been a time of reflection and for others a time of trauma.

As we work through things with our children our focus at school continues on their wellbeing. As a community we can support this by promoting gratitude and refocusing some of our conversations with our children. Supporting them to see the light in their lives will help them to continue coping no matter the situation they find themselves in.

As students settled back into school they are reestablishing relationships and learning to play together again. We are working to support them to remember our rights and responsibilities at BPPS.

If you can find time we would like you to find time to remind your children about our rights and responsibilities to assist us with them rejoining the playground.

World Teacher's Day

World Teacher's Day is this coming Friday. Thank you to our wonderful staff for all they do to provide an outstanding education to our children.

Using play to support children during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

The following was shared with us last week via the Regional Office. A resource from Emerging Minds. It includes a link to an article about taking time to care for yourself - Parents need stress relief too.

Play is a vital part of child  development and wellbeing. Like leisure activities and hobbies for adults, play is a way for children to relax and cope with stress. It gives them the opportunity to be creative and test out their problem-solving skills and provides a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their own abilities.

Play can also be beneficial for your own mental health. It’s a chance to take a break from the worries of COVID-19  and focus on something that is fun and nurturing for you both. It offers a chance to step into your child’s world and share the wonders of their creativity and imagination. Playing together strengthens the parent-child relationship, which helps build children’s resilience and lays the foundation for mental health throughout their lifetime.

While social distancing rules are in place, children are unable to play with their friends in the way that they are used to. This makes play time at home especially important. The following five tips can help you use play to support your child’s mental health during COVID-19.
