Year 7 to 9

Middle School

Assemblies:

Welcome back assemblies ran this week for all year levels from 7 – 9 with great success. It was so heartening to see 99% of students ready online to attend the assemblies within minutes of them being created in the respective MS Teams. A big thank you to the following people for their work in creating the events and running them for students. Mr Schwarz and Mr Rickard (Y7) Mr Novak and Ms Trist (Y8) Mr Robb Ms Catalano and Ms Morris (Y9) Mr Campbell (AP) and Mr Roberts (College Principal). It was evident by the attendance and response that these events have become an important aspect of the remote learning landscape. Further to this, the College value of ‘Respect’ was displayed throughout with ALL students in attendance muting microphones, cameras off and only posting/speaking after raising their digital hands.

Values Awards:

During the assemblies the students who received Values Awards for Term 3 were celebrated and recognised. This is one of the primary foci of these assemblies. Please take your time to see the attached list of Values Award winners.

Middle School Important Upcoming Dates:

There are a number of upcoming important dates that you need to be aware of. Posted to the Compass Newsfeed you will find this document, outlining the roadmap for our return to onsite learning for all students over the next four weeks. Please make yourself familiar with these dates. I have also attached them to this article. Please continue to monitor Compass Newsfeed for important updates as the advice from the government is always subject to change.

1 to 1 Digital Learning Program 2022

In 2022 we will continue with our whole school 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students.

The purchase of these devices is crucial to the learning program as students will access eBooks rather than an extensive number of expensive textbooks.

Details of the 1 to 1 Digital Learning Program for all students and important information regarding suitable devices are detailed in the attached policy.

**Please note that the JB Hi Fi Solutions portal is no longer open for the sale of devices. This service is not available for 2022 purchases.

Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards

Please remind all students that they must carry their Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards with them at all times.

ALL students must sign in/out with their card at the General Office when they are arriving late or leaving early for any reason. A reminder that Year 12 students are required to sign in/out at The John Landy Centre Compass Kiosk.

The cards are also used for any student photocopying that is done at school. The EDSC Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  is also the student PTV (Public Transport Victoria) cards. They are required to carry this card as student identification while travelling on public transport.

If a student loses their card, parents/guardians are able to re-order a replacement card via the Compass parent portal.
