Inside the Classroom

Primary
Primary students and staff have been enjoying being back in classrooms this term. There has been a lot of activity taking place in each class.
The students of Class 9 have been learning about games and activities from the past. They loved seeing how staff listened to music and saw an original iPod, video cassettes, music cassettes and records. The students played games from the past and were shown a phone which needed the numbers dialed.
Class 12 have started cooking each fortnight. Last week the students made yummy BLT's which also fitted with their letter of the week.

Stage 4
Stage 4 students are really enjoying working and learning together at school again. We are studying Shakespeare in English and have been surprised and amused by the number of words and phrases used in his plays that are still used today.
We are also enjoying harvesting and eating the produce planted last term in Tech Mandatory lessons. We are classifying living things in Science and have enjoyed the donation of an electric guitar for Music lessons.
Tyler entertained everyone at Break 1 last week and showcased his wonderful guitar skills. Cheyenne continues to amaze us with her artwork that is now being proudly displayed on some T-shirts.
We are keeping active in the Gym and playground and are enjoying playing together outside as the weather warms up.

Stage 5
It has been so fantastic to welcome our staff and students back to face to face learning! We started off term 4 with a brand new stage 5 class, taught by Mrs Clarke and Mrs Cunial. The students have settled into class 10 and are having a great time working on some great Science and Geography projects... stay tuned!
Classes 13 and 14 are grateful to have relocated to fully equipped, brand demountables on the back oval. In Science, they have been exploring the properties of matter and conducted experiments to change the states of matter of everyday items. Stage 5 has welcomed Toby into class 13. Toby is an extremely curious learner and has enjoyed watching objects change from solid to liquid states.
Curiosity Clubs are continuing this term with the students involved in Masterchef, Agriculture and ICT. Our Agriculture students have been busy filling garden beds with soil and then transplanting these seedlings. We currently have basil, parsley, spring onions, leeks, zucchini, marigolds and tomatoes growing in the garden beds and germinating in the green house.

Students in stage 6 have enjoyed being back at school participating in a range of fun, engaging activities.
Year 12 students have begun their new term 4 program learning in class and virtually on zoom about local services, work experience, transition to work and day programs available in Orange.
Stage 6 students have had fun creating and inviting students of other classes to participate in their weekly online Kahoot Trivia game.
All students have engaged in the new Skills House program practicing and developing their personal self help skills.
Students in year 11 and year 12 have been participating in the Respectful Relationships program learning about safe, respectful and responsible behaviours and relationships.
Year 11 students have enjoyed role playing different scenarios this week.

Campus
Students on Campus have settled back brilliantly into school and are engaging well with one another, their teachers and their learning.
OLC1 has two of their senior students transitioning back to their base schools, and we are extremely proud of how well they are going. A new student will be joining their class in the coming week.
OLC2 can be seen below enjoying some of the new sports equipment which has been ordered for the Campus. Hockey sets, soccer goals, mountain bikes, scooters and a range of ball throwing activities are arriving this term and will be an excellent resource for students to learn new skills and engage in physical exercise.
Class 18 have continued to engage in rich learning programs including STEM, guided drawing and integrated units of work as can be seen below in Danny Keogh's hot-dog stall!
Over the lockdown period we have had a lot of changes to the campus site. The construction of the new campus transport area is underway as well as the building of the new environmental track which the students have designed. New climbing equipment has been ordered and will hopefully be installed over the Christmas holiday break and we are currently looking at new outdoor seating options for the grassed area at the front of the campus. We can not wait to see and share the transformation of the campus with you over the coming months.
