Principal's Message

Hats

Just a reminder that hats are compulsory in Term 4. With the warmer weather now happening, I don't want any child to experience sunburn. Hats with the school logo can be purchased at the office for $14. Please ensure all hats are clearly labelled.

Assembly

This week our assembly will be held this Thursday instead of Friday( Friday is a very busy day with Department of Education representatives working on our next 4 year plan for the school).

Assembly will be transmitted at 3pm.

Strategic Plan

Every 4 years each school in Victoria undergoes a full scale review. This entails studying the  2017-21 goals and setting new and specific goals for Rollins in the coming 4 years.

This process occurs over a number of days and includes an outside reviewer and two critical partners from other Geelong Schools. We would like to thank our School Council President, Erin McGill for agreeing to participate and contribute to this important event.

This is a great opportunity for the panel to fully examine all areas of the school's documentation and data.

Our Review will take place over 3 days- Friday 5th November, Thursday 11th November and Friday 12th November. We look forward to reviewing the last 4 years and setting detailed and direct focuses for the coming years.

Camp

Well, the grade 3/4's finally managed to go on camp this week after a very torrid 18 months as COVID took over our lives.

I would like to sincerely thank the staff who put their personal lives on hold to participate in the camping program.

I have done it before(many times) and it means a lot of additional work and planning as you organise everything in your home life to operate smoothly in your absence.

Although teachers really enjoy the experience of watching students blossom in the "out of school environment", it is incredibly draining and you do dream of a really good nights sleep when you get home.

I sincerely thank these teachers for their dedication and commitment.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Georgie Webster who was recently awarded the NGSC Arts Scholarship for 2022. Well done Georgie and good luck in the years to come.

Bushfire Preparedness Relocation and Closure Procedures

Coming into summer and the fact our Batesford campus is regarded as being in a bushfire zone it is important to update parents of our procedures should the event of closure be required at Batesford due to a Code Red Fire warning. Communication regarding a campus closure and/or the need for student relocation will be released to concerned parents via Compass, Dojo and Facebook.

For detailed information regarding this potential emergency please read the Risk assessment located in the attcahed 2021-2022 Emergency Management Plan for Batesford.

Squid Game

We have heard that some of our students are watching a very popular Netflix TV show called Squid Game. I am asking that all of families make an informed decision as to whether you wish to allow your child to watch this TV show.

Please be aware that this is an incredibly violent TV show, rated “MA15+”, meaning the game is NOT appropriate for ages 15 and under.

I ask that you please consider these points before giving your child permission to watch (or to continue to watch) this TV show.

Please also know that Mr. Callaghan and I, are ready to help should you wish for more information or advice regarding this.
