Production Camp

In the last week of Term 1 the College Production had a two night camp at Gilwell Park in Gembrook.
We met on Sunday afternoon and started rehearsals immediately with three different groups all working on the opening numbers to the production. The start of the show has many intricate parts and students learnt the choreography, lines to the songs and staging positions. After a delicious BBQ dinner we showed each other the elements each group had been working on and put all the separate parts together. For the last hour of the day a team bonding exercise was undertaken. Four teams with students from all year levels in each team were selected by their team captains – the teachers! What followed was a large ‘capture the flag’ game which resulted in a lot of strategising, sneaky tactics and overall enjoyment.
The Monday was a hard working day with constant rehearsals for a range of different parts of the show. Another large group number came together as the different parts were learnt. The evening event was great as all the work the dancers, singers, ensemble and named parts had been doing was performed. Our final activity was another bonding and very entertaining experience. This was a trivia competition organised by the Production Captains - Kristyn King, Sam Lawry, Paris Hornibrook and Sarah Dobson. Question topics ranged from past musicals performed at Wantirna to world events as well as bonus points for performance based tasks.
The production students and staff would like to thank all the parent volunteers who came up to Gembrook to prepare and serve the delicious food.
The camp was a fantastic platform for rehearsals for this year’s College production of Alice in Wonderland. Performances will be on in the College Theatre from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th August and again from Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 August. Tickets will go on sale at the beginning of Term 3.
