Child Safety

St James College Commitment to Child Safety

Commitment to Child Safety

St James College is committed to the safety of every child within our College community.

The policies and procedures that we have in place are used to raise the profile of all issues connected with child protection. Protecting children from sexual and other exploitation is a whole community responsibility.

It is timely to remind parents and carers that they need to have age appropriate conversations with their children about personal safety and what to do if they find themselves in a situation that makes them feel uncomfortable.

Please make children aware that unwanted advances by anyone is not OK and they have the right to say NO.

If you have any information relating to the abuse or exploitation of children, report it to police immediately on 000.

Students of St James College have an important voice at school also. They can feel 100% safe and confident speaking to their Homeroom Teacher, Year Level Coordinator, College Coordinator or School Counsellor if they feel unsafe, concerned about themselves, or others. If speaking face to face is difficult, a simple email can be sent to ask for help.

At our next College assembly, we will be reminding all of our students on how they can help others if they see or suspect untoward behaviours.

By banding together as a community, we can help ensure that the children in our care are safe, have a voice and are listened to.
