Principal's Report

Term 4

Welcome back to Term 4. This term will be 11 weeks and two days in length which is the longest term that I can remember! We have much to look forward to.

As was posted on Compass earlier this week, the Victorian Government have implemented significant changes to the COVID-19 isolation requirements.

The Department of Health strongly recommends that students and school staff:

- who test positive to COVID-19 stay home and isolate for 5 days and do not attend school after 5 days if they are still symptomatic

- who are symptomatic but have not tested positive not attend school.

Please remember that any student who is unwell should remain at home. Parents and carers will be contacted and asked to take their child home if they are displaying symptoms.

These changes are fantastic as they will enable our school activities to proceed without restrictions. These include our Lower Primary Production, Upper Primary day camp, end-of-year whole school celebration and year 6 and 12 graduations.

Parent and Carer Requests re Student Class Placement

Karlie is sending you information regarding the placement of students into classes for next year. You are invited to draw to our attention to particular considerations. In forming classes, we consider numbers, gender, social and academic issues.  We consider parents/caregivers views, student requests and staff perspectives but make our final decisions on our perception of what is in the best educational interests of all the students. Often, we can act upon the matters you have raised, but we do not guarantee that we will be able to do so.

Please ensure that the pro-formas are returned to your current section Team Leader by 5pm on Thursday 20th October 2022

School Building Works

The construction of our new building continues although it has slowed due to the recent rain. Please see some images of the building below.

Principal Award - Samuel Jory

Sam is a happy and social member of the Secondary 7/8 Section. He enjoys assisting his classmates and teachers with routine tasks and is building his skills as a leader.

Across the year Sam has approached his learning with maturity, enthusiasm and a growth mindset.  He shows a talent and passion for writing which is reflected in his creative stories, in particular an epic ocean adventure about a pirate.

Sam’s natural aptitude for leadership is reflected in the way he uses his initiative to support his peers, find creative solutions to problems and take on extra responsibilities.

He leads by example, demonstrating the school expectations of be a learner, be responsible, be respectful, be safe across a range of environments. In the Secondary Spectacular ‘Mamma Mia’ Sam took on a lead role and harnessed his flair for humour to develop his character Henry (boat) and entertain the audience. In addition, he worked alongside other actors to study their lines and supported classmates to learn dances.

Sam thoroughly enjoys the social aspect of school and is keen to have a laugh with his friends and teachers. His enthusiasm for life is infectious and he brings positivity and humour to the Section.

Congratulations on your award Sam!
