Year 11 & 12 Legal Studies - Emma Kealy Visit

Finuala Neeson

On the 21st of July, the deputy Nationals leader and our local representative for Lowan, Emma Kealy, visited Monivae College to talk to the Year 11 and 12 legal classes about her job as a politician. Ms. Kealy spoke about how it was difficult being from a country electorate and the travel times involved, as well as the rewards from being from a rural area. The legal classes got some inside information on what the role of a politician is and “a day in the life during sitting week”. We all learnt more about her role in the Nationals, as well as the Coalition, and gained some insight into the role of Independents and minor parties in the Legislative Assembly. This was an amazing experience and something that all students gained valuable knowledge from.
