“God loves each one of us as if there were only one of us.” – St Augustine

At the end of Term 3 we reported on the successful Mission Fair Day, where the school dug deep in order to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Over the holiday break we counted the money and over $8000 was raised – a fantastic effort from our community. Thank you to everyone who made this such a successful day.

As also mentioned, whilst raising funds is great, "doing" something is just as important. Our students and staff have volunteered once a month all year to help out at the local Uniting Church, providing lunches for local people who need a warm lunch or company.

Our students and staff purchase the materials, prepare and serve lovely meals, as well as joining in conversation with the Hamilton community. This has been a worthwhile cause that we will continue to be involved in.

Being part of the MSC community is an integral part of everything we do at Monivae. We encourage all students and staff to learn as much as they can about our charism by participating in retreats, reflection days and masses. Last week, our librarian Maryanne Gustus and I went to a staff retreat at Douglas Park NSW, aimed at forming our understanding even further. On return from these retreats, staff certainly look at our community through a different lens.

This Sunday we hold the Thanksgiving Mass, recognising the anniversary of the death of the founder of the MSC, Father Jules Chevalier. He died on the 21st of October 1907, and his belief in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a love of all is a message that lives on today in all of our MSC schools today.
