Sustainability

Over the last two weeks we have had groups of students go out into the community and work with a range of community environmental groups.

A big thank you to Jess Cromwell for assisting with driving our students to some of the venues. Willow C, James Mc, Liam B, Evie B, our fabulous helper Hugo Cromwell along with other volunteers, planted over 350 plants, most of which were propagated by students from our school. We planted at Gunners Cottage and Point Nepean National Park, with Rangers Alana and Holly, and at Rye Beach, with Friends of the Rye Foreshore; Mechelle Cheers and her group of volunteers.

Last Friday, a group of our year 4 students, Jack F, Sonny C, Joseph C and Kye D, planted with Dr Ursula DeJong and the volunteers from the Nepean Conservation Group, at St Johns Wood Road linear bushland reserve. All of the 400 plants planted, were propagated by our students during the Briars Nursery incursion.

Without the support of the Mornington Peninsula Shire’s Climate Action Grant, these opportunities of enriched educational activities wouldn’t be possible.
