Grade 1 and 2

The Grade 1s and 2s have had a fabulous week 5.

Firstly we would like to say a big thank you to Aumann's Building and Garden Supplies, who kindly donated over $100 worth of seedlings and fertiliser to kick start our children's garden again.

Parent reading has started in the afternoons. Please check your classroom roster to sign up if you haven't already. 

Grade 1s met their buddies on Wednesday and completed an activity together which will be up in our prep/grade 1 hallway.

In Writer's Workshop: Grade 1s and 2s have been working on nouns, learning that nouns are a person, place, thing or animal and we have had fun singing the noun song. Have a go at home!

We have also been looking at finding nouns as we read.

The 1s and 2s met Healthy Harold, we learned how to make friends. We also learned how to calm ourselves down when we are worried or frustrated, by using the 5 finger rule. This is to trace along all 5 of our fingers and to breathe in when we trace up and out when we trace down.

Look we had hockey trials! It was such a hot day but we had a great time!

The whole school took place in a netball clinic to try netball out and we had a great time learning to pass and shoot the ball! Check out some of our action shots!

In Maths we have continued skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s for Grade 1s and beyond for Grade 2s. We have also been learning about calendars and practising the months and the seasons of the year.

Inquiry: Our focus this term is on learning about communities, what it means to be a part of a community and why community is so important! Mrs Dibb has been wonderful and organised a firesafe excursion to the CFA in week 7! So please check your emails for your excursion form and to let us know if you are available to volunteer for our excursion time!

Now that the preps have settled into school, we have enjoyed spending some more time with them

• Week 7 - CFA firesafe excursion (Grade 1 Thursday 16th 12:15-1:30) (Grade 2 Friday 17th 9:15-11:15am) Please check with your teacher if you are available to volunteer.
• Week 7 -  Warrandyte Festival 18th/19th March
• Week 8 - Teacher planning week  (all specialist classes on one day.)
