Do all that you do with love ~

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

Well it's been a big couple of weeks but all staff and students are back and settled. Even the newest members of St Therese's community have taken starting school in their stride and are already working hard in the classrooms and playing hard at recess and lunch. It has also been lovely to see so many families at drop off and pick up time. It helps us get to know you and supports you getting to know each other as well.

On the getting to know you theme, I am excited to invite you all to our Whole School Welcome BBQ. Class teachers and support staff will be there to say hello, have a chat and spend some time getting to know you and your family. Keep an eye out for an email with more information on how to RSVP so we can cater for everyone.

Safer Internet Day

Tuesday was Safer Internet Day and all classes engaged in learning around this theme. Students have signed the digital use agreement and unpacked what it means to be a responsible digital citizen. We are living in a time where technology is used more and more frequently. Consider how often you have a conversation and stop to check a fact or ask Google a question. How often do we turn to YouTube to show us how to do something? Have you ever considered how we survived without the internet?

With the growing use of technology, we also have a responsibility to ensure that we are educating the children to be safe digital citizens. We don't mean to scare them but they do need to be aware that the internet can be a dangerous place. The statistics below says it all.

In order to support families in establishing safe online environments at home, the eSafety team run regular webinars. See the flyer below for information on this term's eSafety webinar topics for parents and carers.

Prayerful moment

In assembly this week, I shared the following Gospel reading with the children:

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5: 14-16)

Take a few moments quiet time to consider how you can let your light shine and show others God in your life. Your good deeds show God in action in our world. You might also wish to listen to this song as a family.

Have a great week!
