THE FARRALL CENTRE

 

The Year 5-8 Musical Team is thrilled to announce that we have secured the rights to Dreamworks  - Madagascar Jr for our Year 5-8 production for 2023.

 

Students from Years 5-8 will be invited to audition. 

Details of audition dates will be available shortly.

Senior students will be invited to take on leadership roles in stage management, costume and props, set construction, scenic art and other front and back of house roles.

There will be many opportunities where family members will be welcomed to be involved.

 

A  detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided in the upcoming weeks with some occurring on weekends, tentatively planned for Sundays from between 10.30am and 4.00pm.

In production week there will be extra rehearsals after school.

Year 7 Camp

Year 7 students will embark on their first Outdoor Education camp to Maria Island.

The students will be accompanied by Outdoor Education staff and their Connections teachers. Please make sure you have read the Operoo letter, respond accordingly, and ensure all medical information is up to date. Rivulet Walk - Year 7 Connections Day

Mott and Oats: Thursday 23 February 

Backhouse and Fry: Wednesday 1 March 

Penn and Walker: Friday 3 March  

 

Students will be participating in a day-long walk along the Hobart Rivulet.  The day will have an environmental science focus. Students will conduct environmental surveys at 4 - 5 sites along the Hobart Rivulet.  Students should arrive at school at the usual time and will travel by bus to Strickland Falls. Students will be bused back to school after pick-up from Molle Street at the end of the day for usual dismissal times.

 

On the day, students should wear sports uniform including a hat and a waterproof coat.  Students should also bring any personal medications, and sunscreen. A change of shoes or gumboots are also required. Students will need recess snacks, lunch and a drink. As this trip is a full day in the field, please ensure that students have packed plenty to eat and drink.  A clipboard and pencil will also be required.

Outdoor Education

Students have access to the outdoor education site via The School intranet.  This is where staff will post information about upcoming programs, student preparation and planning ideas and photos and videos of past trips.  

 

Please note that to access the site you will need to be logged on to a Friends’ school account.  Please sit down with your child to look at the variety of programs on offer.

Lab Rats

Lab Rats is a Science co-curricular activity that will run every Tuesday after school from 3.45-4.45pm in N201. So come along and bring a friend!

 

In Lab Rats, you can decide what you would like to focus on. Some ideas include: experiments, dissections, engineering challenges, scientific investigations, robotics, organising a Primary School visit with fun demos, microscopy, scientific photography, documentary making, wildlife field trips, science competitions and meeting scientists.

Year 7-12 Athletics Carnival

The Year 7-12 Athletics Carnival is on Thursday 2 March. All students are to make their own way to the Domain Athletics Centre arriving no later than 8.30am, when student registrations will take place. Students will be dismissed from the Domain at 3.30pm. Transport back to School has been organised for students who need to catch Roberts or Lovell's Coaches and the Eastern Shore Metro service. Students may enter as many events in their age group as they wish. Entries for all events will be taken on the day.

Parents are welcome to attend. In the case of adverse weather, the event's cancellation will be emailed out to students and guardians.
