Every Day Counts School Attendance

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day on time.

Missing school can have a major impact on a child’s future – a student missing one day a fortnight will miss four full weeks by the end of the year. By Year 10 they’ll have missed more than a year of school. There is no safe number of days for missing school – each day a student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educational outcomes.

Of course, sometimes children are sick and need to stay home to get well - and that's OK! But other than that, children need to be at school as much as possible to ensure the BEST opportunity for learning. Coming to school every day, for the whole day, is vital. If you’re having attendance issues with your child, please let your classroom teacher know so we can work together to get your child to school every day.

A message from our new

Family Engagement Leader -  Simone Whitehead

My name is Simone Whitehead and I am very happy to be joining St Martin de Porres as a Year 5/6 Classroom Teacher and the Family Engagement Leader.  I am excited to be a part of the Wellbeing Team, and to work with families to help their children flourish in all areas of their lives.

When I’m not at work, I love to travel, read, walk my dog and do yoga!

It has been lovely to meet so many of you already.  Thank you for welcoming me - I am grateful that I have become a member of your wonderful school community, and I look forward to working with you more in the future!
