Principal's Report
Mrs Larissa Vesdrevanis
I would like to begin my report by acknowledging our amazing school council president, Carl Michael. Carl has served on the council since 2014. He has led school council as president since 2019 and vice president in 2017 and 2018. Carl and his beautiful family have been actively involved in our DPS Community since his children Ian and Isobel started at DPS in 2013 and 2016 respectively. Isobel who was a school captain in 2022, graduated last year. Both Ian and Isobel attend Doncaster Secondary College. With the end of primary schooling for his children sadly Carl's tenure on school council has come to an end. Carl attended his last school council meeting this past Tuesday (see photo above).
Carl has long been an advocate for esteeming DPS in the community. I know I can speak for all staff that we will be forever grateful for his words of encouragement and appreciation for our work. Carl has brought wisdom, sharp intellect and emotional intelligence to our council meetings. Thank you, Carl for your tireless support and commitment to our school. You leave an indelible mark on our community, and it has been an honour to have you serve as president and council member. Carl, on behalf of everyone at DPS we wish you and your family all the very best.
It is hard to believe that we already in Week 4 of Term 1. We have enjoyed some beautiful weather and it is lovely to see our students enjoying our expansive grounds. Please ensure that all children bring a SunSmart hat with them to school every day.
DPS ART TILES
I have some exciting news to share with our community! Some of you may have already noticed the beautiful tiling work in the main girls' and boys' toilets. In 2021, Mrs Boskovska our fabulous ART teacher commissioned our DPS students and teachers to paint a wellbeing tile. After some extensive deliberations we decided to beautify our toilets with the tiles. Research into student wellbeing has shown that school toilets can be quite sterile and scary for students especially our younger students. At DPS we are lucky to have lovely internal toilets in some of our buildings, but the main toilet block is still used by a majority of students especially during recess and lunchtime.
