Technology Report

Welcome back to the 2019 school year! We have so many great things planned for Technology this year! This term we are focusing on Digital Solutions and Food Technology! Check out the cool things we have learned so far! 

Our Foundation students have settled in and are beginning to learn about devices, our classroom rules and expectations too. We have a big focus on the Chromebooks this term. Students will begin logging in to the Chromebooks using their unique usernames and passwords and will begin to navigate around the Google Apps. We will also focus a lot on internet safety and how we can be safe online and with our passwords.  

Our Level 1-2 students are also logging into the Chromebooks using their new usernames and passwords. We have focused on internet safety and how we need to be safe online and not give out our personal details. We are learning about devices and how they have input and output functions to send and receive information. 

Our Year 3-4 program is well underway, where students have been learning about input and output and how data can be sent and received, as well as transmitted between devices.  We are beginning to explore some cool new resources, such as Lego We Do, the 3D printers and Micro:bits; where we look for input and output components.  

Our Year 5-6 students have been the lucky ones to begin Food Technology in the kitchen. Theory and practical lessons occur in the kitchen, and so many great discussions have come up so far. The students are now aware that Food Tech. is not just about the cooking! We have a big focus around The Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and how we can fuel our bodies with a range of foods to give us long sustained energy. It’s so integral to learn about healthy eating, for all the sports, running, playing and learning our students do!
