Dreamtime Stories

Hi everyone,

Next week our Koorie kids are running a competition at lunch club, we are going to talk about some Dreamtime stories and put them onto paper. Whoever is the winner their design will go onto a totem pole at the back of the school. We plan to paint all 9 eventually but these ones will get us on our way.

If you have any questions you can ask either Georgie or Gaye.

Below is the announcement that Lucy will be starting as of tomorrow.

Thanks for your help to explain this to the kids if they ask.

Hi, I’m Lucy, and I am one of the Koorie Kids!

The Koorie ( Aboriginal ) kids are running a design competition!!

The winning entries will have their design painted onto a totem post at the back of the school ( Around the cubby area )!! We will be painting these poles with symbols and characters from Aboriginal Dreamtime stories.

The mission:

Using the paper supplied by us, you need to recreate a Dreamtime story through pictures and drawings, but NO WORDS!!

The poster needs to reflect the theme of reconciliation.

Reconciliation means:

Reconciliation is about the bond and respect between Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islanders, and non-Indigenous Australians. It is about respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage and valuing justice for all Australians.

What The Poster Needs To Look Like:
