End of Year Student Reports – Save the dates.

The face to face conversations at Parent Teacher Conferences form a very important part of our reporting process of student achievement. The

following process will be followed over the coming weeks. Please add the following dates to your calendar.

Wilsons Fruit and Vegetables

In Week 3 of Term 4 the Grade 3 students were lucky enough to have Wilson’s Fruit and Veg come to our school and teach us about organic farming, healthy eating, growing fruit and vegetables and we also learnt a lot of facts.

Some of the farmers use bugs instead of chemicals to keep pests away. Some of the few bugs we learnt about were: the Lacewing Moth and Lady Bugs. These bugs are used instead of poison because they kill the bad bugs instead of the good.

Some of the healthy eating options are to have lots of colours in your diet such as beetroot, carrot, capsicum, cabbage, apples and bananas. We learnt that bananas are a herb.

All over Australia, Aussie farmers are trying to grow the healthiest fresh fruit and veg they can. These are the same farmers that use bugs instead of chemicals. We saw some videos about farming and how to grow lots of fruit and veg.

We got to try lots of fresh fruit and vegetables such as: apple, pineapple, orange, fennel, carrot, capsicum, cucumber, asparagus and homemade guacamole. Some people liked things, others didn’t.

In the end we thoroughly enjoyed it and deeply thank Leanne Jones for entering the competition.

Attendance Notes and Unexplained Absences

In order to keep our attendance data accurate have a look at their Compass attendance notes and follow the advice below.

Submitting an Attendance Note:

There are 3 ways to submit an Attendance note for your child:

  1. Use your Compass portal to submit a note (see video below)
  2. Ring the Buninyong Campus office.
  3. Send an email to the Buninyong office.

Clearing Unexplained Absences: (check out the video below)

Every time your student is absent from school without a note, an Unexplained Absence will be recorded against your child’s name. An Unexplained Absence is also recorded if you drop your child off late for school and do not accompany them to the school office.

You can add attendance notes to any Unexplained Absences by doing the following:

  1. Go to your Compass portal.
  2. Click on Attendance next to your child’s name.
  3. Click on the Unexplained Absences tab
  4. Choose the absences and click on Add Attendance Note.
  5. Choose from the choices available.

If you have an Unexplained Absence that is in accurate, that is fine, please just contact the office at the Buninyong Campus and we will clear the entry for you.

To help with this process, please check out the video below that shows the process to follow.
